Pool Party
Some people might think that you can only have pool parties in the summer, but that’s not completely true. This is Southern California after all. It’s 70 degrees and sunny most days of the year. Don’t let the fact that it’s not summer deter you from throwing a great pool party. All you need for this party to be a success is some hot dogs, chips, beverages, and a few pool noodles and you’ve got a party. What are you waiting for? Go start writing your guest list! Barbeque
Who doesn’t love a good barbeque? There’s nothing more distracting than driving along the road and rolling down the windows to smell someone barbecuing down the street. Be the envy of your neighbors. Just start barbecuing some ribs and you won’t even have to invite anyone over to see your backyard, they’ll come to you. Oh and don’t forget corn. Never forget the corn.
Theme Party
Theme parties are always so much fun. If you have a lot of single friends, have a singles mixer. If you have a friend group that is obsessed with a certain show, have a party with the theme of that show. Throw a Scandal party where everyone has to bring their favorite bottle of wine and dress up like Olivia Pope. Murder Mystery parties take a little bit more preparation but are such a blast. Whatever theme you decide to have, it’ll be so much fun to have in your brand new backyard.
Tea-Party
Tea parties are so much fun. If you have a new patio area with a lot of seating, then this is the perfect party for you to throw. The cool thing about tea parties is that you don’t have to do a lot of work to make it look fabulous. Get white and pastel decorations and make a lot of different finger foods. Veggie platters, hummus, crackers, and little sandwiches are a great place to start. Then, obviously there’s the tea. You can choose to make a bunch of different teas, or just have one simple tea to serve. If you don’t have any fancy tea china, you can pick up some affordable, yet adorable, dinnerware from Target, Walmart, or Ross Have your friends dress up in fancy dresses and hats and get ready to have a great time!
Brunch
Similar to having a tea party, having brunch is great for backyards that have a nice patio and seating area for guests to sit and enjoy food and conversation. And who doesn’t love brunch?! Maybe you’ll serve waffles and turkey sandwiches or maybe you’ll have pancakes and shrimp cocktail. Or maybe you’ll just invite everyone over for yogurt parfaits after church on Sunday. Regardless, your family and friends will have a great time and will surely be complimenting your fabulous new backyard.
Birthday Party
Okay, okay, this one is obvious, but hear us out. Many people have birthday parties inside, but you’re not going to do that this year. This year, you have your new fancy backyard to show off to all of your friend and that is exactly what you’re going to do. Whether you’re having a kids birthday party where you decorate your backyard like a Frozen wonderland, or if you’re having a sophisticated casino themed party for your 50th birthday – have it outside instead of inside.
Picnic Party
If you have a large grassy space, having a picnic is a very cute idea. All you have to do is lay out a few blankets, buy a couple of picnic baskets, make a simple lunch, and some lemonade and you have a Picnic party!
